David K. Cheng is a partner in Nixon Peabody LLP’s Tax Controversies and Litigation Team. Mr. Cheng represents clients, from Fortune 500 corporations to high-net-worth individuals, for a variety of issues related to taxation. His work includes representations regarding audits, appeals, and refund and collection matters before the Internal Revenue Service (Exam and Appeals), the U.S. Department of Justice, and the California Franchise Tax Board. He also has experience regarding tax deficiency matters, including relating to tax shelter transactions, before the U.S. Tax Court. Additionally, he has represented clients before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission related to accounting fraud. Mr. Cheng has served as lead counsel in the formation of tax-exempt entities and compliance programs for some of the largest charitable organizations in the United States.
He is also very active in developing relationships with Chinese companies, organizations, and individuals.
After law school, Mr. Cheng worked for the U.S. Justice Department as a trial attorney in the tax division. Joining through the Honors Program, he served as lead counsel charged with representing the United States in over 90 civil cases in U.S. District and Bankruptcy courts. He was responsible for multimillion-dollar tax refund suits brought by individuals, partnerships, and corporations, and collection and foreclosure suits against individuals, trusts, and corporations.

MBA, FACHE, Chairman, has more than 25 years of leadership experience and expertise in e-health, technology and management. A seasoned CEO, he has successfully led medical centers, e-health technology companies and consulting firms. He is an expert both in starting up and turning around companies with complex difficulties. He has consulted with a wide range of world-class health companies, Fortune 100 and start-ups companies internationally. Michael served as the founding CEO of EnerLook Healthcare Solutions in Florida; was a CEO within the $20 billion HealthTrust (NYSE: HCA); CEO of TransCare Healthcare; and COO of Ryan Advisors, an international healthcare consulting firm - one of the first in the country. He served 10 years as a senior executive with the $10 billion Daughters of Charity National Health System (now Ascension Health) the largest not-for-profit health system in the US, and was instrumental in the success of turning around a hospital from $18 million in losses to $3 million in gains in 2 years. During his career, he has been involved in the start-up of more than 30 successful companies including serving as CEO of a $25 million healthcare company and vice president of administration for a $300 million holding company in Florida. He has served as an advisor, director and consultant to numerous companies and organizations including the Women's Technology Cluster in San Francisco, Aquave, American Red Cross, United Way, American Hospital Association and The White House. He has successfully guided startup and established companies in strategic development, sales, and fundraising. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is a board certified healthcare executive and a licensed health and life agent. He holds an MBA from The George Washington University and degrees in Communications and International Relations from Regis University. He has served as a lecturer and preceptor at The George Washington University, Vanderbilt University, University of Florida, Tulane, University of Louisiana, Georgetown University, and University of California.

Joe Shapiro uShowJoe Shapiro is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Palo Alto, California-based personal-video sharing website uShow.com. Originally from Arizona, Shapiro attended The Wharton School of Business before moving to Silicon Valley, CA. He briefly worked as an investment banker in the Technology, Media, and Telecom sector for Lazard Freres and subsequently worked on a mobile video startup which evolved into uShow.
Shapiro has facilitated partnerships with companies including Ghost House Pictures affiliated with Mandate Pictures / Lionsgate Studios and has explored syndication deals of Hollywood content in China’s Mobile TV market with SARFT (State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television) and China Unicom. Shapiro currently resides in Palo Alto, CA.





Harry McCracken

Harry McCrackenNamed Editor in Chief of PC World in March 2004, Harry McCracken oversees all editorial and design for PC World, PCWorld.com, and the PC World Test Center. His areas of expertise include the Internet, PC service and support, digital imaging, and other aspects of technology; his "Up Front" column opens each issue of the magazine. McCracken also authors PC World’s Techlog, a Web log with news, opinions, and links on PCWorld.com.

McCracken has won numerous honors for his work at PC World, including Jesse H. Neal Awards for "Best Subject-Related Series" in 1998, 2000, 2001, and 2002, a 2000 Grand Neal Award from American Business Media, was recognized with the 2004 American Business Media’s Western Award for Editorial Courage and Integrity, and recently won a 2005 min's Best Of the Web Award for Best Blog. He has appeared as an industry expert on television and radio programs on ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and the BBC. He also collaborated with Dateline NBC on a multi-state undercover investigation into PC repair in 2000 which aired later that year. A past contributor to USA Today, Family Circle, and other publications, McCracken was named to the Technology Marketing Influencers list in 2002 and 2003. A 15-year veteran of technology journalism, he served as an editor at InfoWorld and Computer Buying World prior to joining PC World in 1994.


McCracken has been a screener for the Jesse H. Neal Awards for the past three years, and also judged the National Magazine Awards for 2003 and 2004. In addition, he serves on the editorial board of American Business Media, and was a judge for ABM’s Littleford Awards for Public Service in 2003.

A graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in English, McCracken has lived in Massachusetts, Oregon, and London, England, and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
